A bidet should match the WC beside it, so ours come in the same collections and the same fixings as our toilets: wall-hung, back-to-wall and floor-standing. There are twenty-one, across the period ranges Framsden, Thornham and Debenham and the contemporary ranges Orwell, Stour, Deben and Blyth.

Matching the bidet to the toilet

Treat the two as a pair: same collection, same fixing, same glaze. A wall-hung bidet sits on its own concealed frame beside a wall-hung toilet. A back-to-wall bidet hides its pipework in furniture or a boxed wall, like a back-to-wall toilet. A floor-standing bidet suits a period room with exposed pipes.

Thornham’s extended bidet matches its extended high- and low-level pans. Deben has the most sizes, from 48cm to 56cm, which helps where the depth of the room is fixed, and a back panel with a shelf for its back-to-wall bidet.

If the room will only take one piece, a Deben pan with a bidet function or the Orwell trigger spray beside the WC does the same job in less floor.

Before you order

A bidet needs hot and cold supplies as well as a waste, so it takes more plumbing than a WC. Choose the mixer at the same time. Framsden and Orwell have mono bidet mixers, and Framsden also has a three-hole version; check the bidet’s tap holes against the mixer. Bidet traps are listed under fittings and wastes. Frames for wall-hung bidets are specified separately.
