We list two kinds of shower tray. Framsden trays are ceramic: square at 80, 90 and 100cm, corner trays at 80 or 90cm, and rectangular and offset quadrant trays handed left or right. The low trays come 30mm deep in sizes from 70 by 90cm to 80 by 140cm, or 60mm deep from 72 by 90cm to 80 by 120cm, plus a 90cm square.

Choosing a shower tray

A ceramic tray is heavier and more rigid than a resin one, and it matches the glaze of a Framsden basin and WC in a period bathroom. The low 30mm trays suit a contemporary room where the tray should sit almost flush with the floor. The 60mm trays give a little more upstand where the floor cannot be dropped.

Shape follows the room. A corner or offset quadrant tray saves floor in an en suite and keeps the door path clear. A rectangular tray of 120cm or more gives a walk-in feel with a fixed screen. Handed trays have to be ordered for the side the waste and screen will be on, so mark that on the plan.

Before you order

Check the waste position against the joists or slab before choosing the size.

Allow for the fall to the waste in the floor build-up.

Order the screen or enclosure to the tray size, not the opening.

Wastes are separate; Framsden trays take the Framsden 90 shower tray waste.
