An inset basin drops into a cut-out in a worktop or vanity unit. A semi-recessed basin sits partly into the unit with the front of the bowl standing proud. Both give you storage under the basin. We offer six: Framsden inset basins at 50cm and 62cm, Stour 60cm semi-inset basins with or without a tap ledge, and Gipping semi-recessed basins at 40cm and 60cm.

Inset or semi-recessed

A full inset basin needs a unit deep enough to take the whole bowl. A semi-recessed basin projects forward, so the cabinet beneath can be shallower. That helps in a narrow cloakroom or en suite where a few centimetres of floor matter. Gipping is designed round this, with wall-mounted cabinets in glossy white lacquer made for its basins.

The Framsden inset basins suit a period room fitted with joinery, and the 62cm is offered with one or three tap holes. Stour has squared edges and comes in white, an easy-clean white and a range of matt glazes. Its tap-ledge version carries a deck-mounted mixer on the basin; with the plain version, the tap goes on the worktop or the wall.

What to check before ordering

The cut-out is made to the template on the specification sheet, and the worktop or unit top must stand up to water at the cut edge. If the basin is going into furniture from our joinery workshop, we work from the same template. Check the waste route through the unit, since drawers and a trap compete for the same space.
