A corner basin uses the part of a cloakroom that usually goes to waste. We offer two: the Framsden corner basin in white, gloss black, matt black, matt hazel or matt green, and the Alde corner basin in white.

Where a corner basin works

In a cloakroom under the stairs or a narrow WC, a basin on the side wall can stop the door opening or crowd the toilet. Turned into the corner, the bowl projects less into the room and leaves a clear path to the pan. A corner basin also helps in an en suite where the only free wall has been taken by the shower.

The Framsden version belongs to the early twentieth-century Framsden collection, so it can be matched with a Framsden toilet and brassware in chrome, gold or bronze. The Alde corner basin sits with the contemporary Alde collection and its brass-chrome towel rails.

Before you order

A corner basin is fixed into two walls, and both need to be sound. In stud walls, put noggins in at the right height before boarding. Plan where the supply and waste come out of the wall, because there is little room behind the bowl to hide them, and a neat bottle trap will be on view.

A small basin also limits the tap. Check the tap-hole position on the specification sheet and choose a mixer whose spout reaches the centre of the bowl without splashing the wall. Taps are ordered separately; see taps and mixers.

WCs, basins and baths are covered by the sanitation and hot water rules in Approved Document G. Call 01449 711782 if you would like us to check a piece against your plans.
