A wall-hung toilet is carried on a concealed frame inside the wall, with the cistern hidden and the floor left clear for cleaning. We list nine pans: Orwell standard and quiet-flush, Stour, Deben 54cm, Deben 50cm with a bidet function, Blyth, Framsden and Thornham, and a Stour pan in the Waveney finishes.

Choosing a wall-hung toilet

Most of the choice is about the room and the glaze. Orwell and Stour come in white, an easy-clean white and matt glazes including black, grey, burgundy, hazel, brown, iron and green. Deben comes in white, matt white, matt black or matt grey, and the 50cm with a bidet function saves fitting a separate bidet. Blyth is compact. Framsden and Thornham give a wall-hung option in a period room, in white, gloss black and matt glazes.

Because the pan is set on the frame, its height can be chosen at installation to suit the people using it.

What the wall needs

The frame, cistern and flush plate are specified separately. The frame needs a solid floor and a wall with enough depth to house it, usually a stud wall built out in front of the main wall or a boxed section. Plan an access point, normally behind the flush plate, so the valve can be serviced. Check the soil pipe can reach the frame outlet with the right fall.

A matching wall-hung bidet is listed under bidets. See toilet seats and our design service, which will check the wall construction for you.
